Dangerous Beauty

     Ocelot, one of the most charming animals all over the world, has to face a threatened with extinction. There is no doubt, human being are main killers, not only adults but also their subspecies are victims of people's greedy.

     Lustrous coat, beautiful curve and attractive color,  are reasons of the ocelot attract people, and also are cause of their death.  According to PSA and relevant data show that ocelots are only little more that 200 hundreds left, and they were hunted and killed at the rate of about 200,000 per year in the 1950s, 60s and Early 70s. Ocelots are classified on Red List of Endangered Species. I hardly believe people catch them declawed and even defanged, but it is truth. In past, hunters would kill the mother and take the cubs to sell, they get gigantic profits from their furs and organs. Although, the U.S. government passed an amendment to protect them, illegal poaching, retaliatory killing by poultry farmers and habitat fragmentation still standing.

     On the other hand, Ocelot subspecies is also vulnerable. Unlike other cats species, having the fewest number of kittens per litter, often just one, and survival rate is another significant problem. Modernization of industry and deforestation decrease habitat of ocelots. Adult Ocelot behaviors are becoming anomalous, they are interrupted with health and reproductive. So, population of cubs is remained at very low level. Maybe one day, our children can see wild ocelot only in picture or TV.

     I have to point out , after watching this PSA, I am shocked and sad. I select this material in order to advocacy and rescue more than interesting. In China, poaching result in irreversible disaster. I often received news from broadcast, magazine and other media. Hundreds and thousands animals face to death or extinction, but my country is trying to outrun their past mistakes. Punishing poaching and introducing new energy to protect animals kingdoms. poaching cannot be forgive forever, we should refuse to luxury fur products. I wish government to pay more attention on rare animals, because we are a big family and live in the same land, the only home of human beings.

Living As Usual

                Last week is my first Fall break in America when I study in Webster University.  Although most of my classmates prefer to out of St. Louis, I still stay in here with my girlfriend. because my girlfriend did not have break, she was required to study as usual, and I need this break to complete some tasks.

                First of all, I spent two days in order to get driver license. To be honestly, exam is not easy for me. There are some rules and operations are different from which I learned in China, that is why I failed in the first time. Besides paying more attention on drive situation and signals, international student feels invariably nervous when talking about officer in English. I failed the first test due to I did not do more exercises. In contrast, I nearly drove around half St. Louis with my girlfriend's help on my first day of fall break. I  concentrated every way and signal while I was driving. Then, I found more relax on the second test.  I cannot forget what was feel when I passed the road test; I really excited because it does mean I can drop the permit license and drive alone to anywhere. In past two months, my girlfriend always accompanied with me, whatever drove to school, supermarket or other restaurants. I really felt sorry to interrupt her schedule, I knew it is very difficult if someone could encourage you forever and give your hand except having fallen deeply in love with you.

                Secondly, in the middle of break, I decided to move into another apartment. Consider with more convenient traffic conditions and comfortable environment, Ballwin is my best choice. On one hand, I can arrived school about 20 minutes. QT gas station, Wal-Mart and banks around here, it is greatly reducing the time as before. On the other hand, some of my friends also live in here, we can body build , study or travel together. In addition,  I am satisfied with the social amenity. For instance,  laundry room, gymnasium underground my apartment, swimming pool is nearly 3 walk away. I can take care myself, and save more time with my friends. Of course, I must be tired on moving day, I believe I can love my new environment, because I do not want to move a third time.

                Finally, I spent the rest time with my girlfriend,  we went to a cinema, shopping mall and walk around one lake as other lovers. When we back home, we were cooking together and talking our plans in next semester, we enjoyed our selves. Admittedly, we lives in here are still colorful and comfortable, but meanwhile it is also full of tension and competition. I must get ready for challenges at any moment, because I have a responsibility to give my girlfriend a home life.

How do I evaluate an impact of Bruce Lee.

Bruce Lee, the Chinese, one of the most memorable person in the world,  is famous as a legendary Kung Fu star. I heard about a mass of his stories when I was child, and from then on , I began to paid more attention on him. His positively impact not only in China, but also in U.S even all over the world.

 

First of all, the American is familiar with Bruce Lee as an actor. In his films, people will not forget the speed of his fists and legs, the scream before he fighting, and the pretty muscle that he had. Meanwhile, he is the first person bring the word " Kung Fu" into west county. He is a nature Warrior and movie star, and he trains strictly like 10km running, 300 times push-ups, uncounted rope skipping, etc every day.  So watching his performance, people are shocked and really interested in this youth.  More and more people mimic his haircut, clothes and even his scream. Unfortunately, there are only four and a half films he left to us, Bruce Lee died when only 32, the reason is still a mystery up to now. Nevertheless,  a great number of people have been fascinated by him for his movies, moreover, for his Kung Fu.

While Bruce Lee was triumphing, people talked about the Chinese super star even visited him to learn Chinese Kung Fu, that is another gigantic impact. As we know Bruce Lee was not only a martial arts, but also the founder of Jeet Kune Do, how to use the simplest way to attack or defend against our opponent. With the speed, power and height, he can kick anyone before it can approach to him. Besides that, Nunchakus, it is another famous arms, and he can use it to burst 1600 pounds to the target, of course, the speed is also the key point when he use it.

At last but not the least,  he brings the strong and unyielding spirit to Chinese. During that time, Chinese had been regarded as the "yellow peril" since we called "sick men of East Asia", however, Bruce Lee changed this view, which most foreigner's impressions. Chinese people has begun to gain dignity and value. In spite of Lee's life is short, he is estimated an avatar of Kung Fu, the U.S Newspaper called him "the Kung Fu man" , the Japanese called him "saint of Kung fu", and Hong Kong medias declared him "the wizards in the Chinese Martial Arts and movie history." but he just said:" Empty your main, be formless, shapeless, like water; and you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup; you put water in a bottle, It becomes the bottle; you put water in teapot It becomes the teapot. water can flow or can crash. Be water, my friend." 

 

Why Should I Go to America?

It is one month since I have come to America, I am exciting many Chinese live in the St. Louis than I expected.  As we know, with the accelerating pace of modern life, more and more Chinese move to U.S rather than stay in China throughout their lives. However, reasons are perhaps different.

Firstly, there is no doubt that moving to America means more opportunities. For instance, compared with China, we are more likely to get a well paid job in big city, an advanced education in famous university, a well developed health care system and a high-quality medical facilities in hospital. These institutions can ensure our basic desires: property and safety.

Then, some others get higher pursuit: freedom and justice. In fact, China is still a developing country. The economy is growing fast meanwhile so does the wealth gap, this main social problem and contradiction leads more people do not trust political party want to change themselves lives so that they try to move to a fresh environment. It is another point why Chinese people choose America firstly.

In conclusion, whatever we want, we both go after our American dreams. As for me, besides study in Webster University, expanding horizon, enlarging social circle, leaning American culture and enriching my life, both are significant reasons why I go to America.
